Slacker Girl

I've been such a slacker lately with updates. Of course, it doesn't really need mentioning as it's fairly self-evident, but confession's good for the soul, yo. Me=Slacker Girl.

My uncle Richard died a couple of weeks ago, so I went home for the funeral. Saw relatives I haven't seen in years, including one of the cutest babies ever. Was a little sad that I hadn't been more diligent in keeping in touch with some of my favorites from that side of the family. Hung out at the sister's new apartment, and subsequently got hooked on an X-Box/Buffy video game. Knitted up a storm, and spent another small fortune on yarn. Got my hair cut. Missed a heck of a lot of krav. That pretty much sums it up.

Now it's Friday, and Mom arrives on Wednesday for her annual spring visit. There's so much cleaning and other prep stuff to get done, I'm getting weary just thinking about it. Or maybe I'm just tired in general. Dunno, but whatever it is, it makes it hard to focus, yo.

Yesterday was Jack's birthday, he's now two years old. He's so incredibly big, and yet he still has the baby face that he's always had. He'll always be a big ol' momma's boy, though; he still follows me around like a puppy dog.

Yeah, I'm just rambling. How is it these posts always end up rambling? I'll go do a study on that and get back to you. Until then, go get yourself a tshirt or a bumper sticker. ;-D

Three Day Weekends *Still* Aren't Long Enough

Today is a day of chores. And a day of aspirin. A work crew spent several hours drilling all over my building today, including however long it took to do this to my living room window. I expected the drill to come through the wall. Maybe next time, since they're obviously not finished.

I hate chores. It's a self-perpetuating hate—I hate them, so I avoid them, until I can't ignore them anymore and must spend an entire day on dishes and laundry and vacuuming, making me hate them even more. This is what I get for forgetting to buy more paper plates.

Yeah, I don't have much of interesting to impart here, so instead, as I go to finish the second half of the dishes, a picture of my little darlings!

Some Enchanted Evening

I don't know why, but that song has been stuck in my head for weeks.

So, Wonderfalls was cancelled after four episodes. FOX continues to prove just how much it s*cks (content edited for family readers). It really was a wonderful show, quirky and irreverent, and terribly funny. However, the quality of television has been sliding ever farther down since the advent of reality television, and I'm not really surprised that it didn't recognize the gem it had in Wonderfalls. RIP, Jaye, Eric and "Janet."

Quiz night - third place finish, which is way better than last week's boring non-placing. I showed my true couch potato stripes last night as I made myself a force to be reckoned with when television trivia is on the agenda. And I was never even a fan of The Mary Tyler Moore Show.

Yeah, my life is so boring. What else what else what else? Saw Hellboy last weekend. Good. Better than LoEG and Daredevil, but something was lacking, I just haven't figured out what. Also bought TONS of yarn and ate LOTS of food with various and sundry friends and babies. Have not done laundry. Have not done taxes. I have been vigilant about going to my krav maga classes - twice a week so far, but I'm going to try to add Friday nights as well. Spent $300 on a new water pump. Read a book. Still working on my knitting projects. Aaaaand, that's about it.

I'll try to do more in the future. Until then, have a good Wednesday.
